Description
In a world where Latin music almost eclipsed rock and roll, the streets of Spanish Harlem and the Bronx pulsed with the rhythms of mambo, boogaloo, and Latin jazz. One of the brightest talents to emerge from this scene was Bobby Pauneto, a Bronx-born vibraphonist of Spanish and Italian heritage whose music captured the energy of Latin New York.
This exclusive LP brings together, for the first time, all eight of Pauneto’s 1965 recordings for the Seeco label, showcasing his dynamic blend of jazz and Afro-Cuban rhythms. Also featured are key tracks from artists who shaped the Latin sound of the era—including Joe Cuba, Joe Cotto, and Rene Grand—plus Cal Tjader’s nod to Pauneto with the tribute track "Pauneto’s Point."
A vibrant snapshot of a near-forgotten moment when Latin music nearly took over American pop culture.
