Hiero's Souls of Mischief are back with new music. Their limited-edition EP with 88rising's 1999 WRITE THE FUTURE arrives digitally October 9th. A-Plus, Phesto, Opio, and Tajai trade verses with guests Jay Worthy, Phonte of Little Brother, Dame D.O.L.L.A., and Brookfield Duece.
Lead single "Nothing Without You" brings the crew together with fellow Oakland native Dame D.O.L.L.A. for a tribute to the city that raised them. In the group's words:
"In a time when the things we used to count on don't seem so dependable anymore, we linked up with fellow hometown hero Dame 'D.O.L.L.A.,' a champion and titan in his own right, to create 'Nothing Without You,' a love letter to Oakland, California, the city that raised us. This is our ode to that place. The struggle, the beauty, the contradictions, the people, the love. The city that gave us our voice and taught us how to use it. Nothing Without You."
The EP continues a partnership that started on Souls of Mischief's first collaboration with 1999 WRITE THE FUTURE’s 2024 album hella (˃╭̣ ╮˂̣)✧♡‧o· ̊. That record paired the group with members of 88rising and a lineup that included Ghostface Killah, Conway The Machine, Westside Gunn, De La Soul, Busta Rhymes, Smino, Rick Ross, Del The Funky Homosapien, The Budos Band, Surprise Chef, and BADBADNOTGOOD.
The vinyl edition is pressed on translucent orange-and-green swirl vinyl with printed die-cut inner sleeves. It's available only at Get On Down and Fat Beats. Souls of Mischief tour the West Coast this October and close the run at Red Rocks alongside Cypress Hill, Method Man & Redman, Digable Planets, De La Soul, and The Pharcyde. They’ll also be back out on the road in January & February of 2027 with Mac Lethal and Blueprint on the Winter Carnival Tour!
