Description
In mid-1957, following a transformative trip to Philadelphia, John Coltrane accepted an invitation from Thelonious Monk to join his band—a collaboration that would become one of the most legendary partnerships in jazz history.
For six months, the quartet held a celebrated residency at New York’s Five Spot Café, featuring Monk on piano, Coltrane on tenor sax, Ahmed Abdul-Malik on bass, and Shadow Wilson on drums. Though their time together was brief, the music they created was nothing short of extraordinary.
This reissue captures one of the few studio sessions from that era—an essential document of two jazz giants in rare alignment. Remastered and pressed with care, this release is a must-have for fans of classic modern jazz.
