Description
Indiana funk gems from two rare high school bands, Diplomatics and Amnesty, both led by young local talents and each known for a single 45 on Herb Miller’s LAMP label. Diplomatics, led by Rodney Stepp and funk prodigy Miles “Butch” Loyd, deliver “Hum-Bug” — a Meters-inspired groove reminiscent of “Cissy Strut,” complete with a killer drum break. This release features an exclusive instrumental version, freshly mixed from the original four-track tapes. Amnesty, fronted by bassist James Massie, serve up the dynamic and progressive funk anthem “Everybody Who Wants To Be Free,” featuring rich three-part vocal harmonies. Here, the track appears in its full, original unedited form. A must-have for collectors and fans of raw, authentic Midwest funk.
