Description
Live at the South Dallas Pop Festival 1970 captures the raw energy of Texas funk, preserved thanks to Eothen "Egon" Alapatt. These previously unreleased recordings, issued by his Now-Again label, document bands whose music had remained hidden for 30 years. The Soul Seven, Apollo Commanders, Marchel Ivery Quintet, Black Maffia, and Les Watson & The Panthers deliver high-energy, intense funk that rivals the best of the era. With precise live performances and standout grooves, this album is a rare glimpse into a vibrant but largely forgotten night in South Dallas.
