PRESSED ON SPLATTER COLORED DOUBLE-VINYL
REKS took the underground scene by storm with his debut, Along Came The Chosen (2001), which featured production from a then 18-year old Statik Selektah and featured collaborations with underground stalwarts: Pace-Won & Young Zee (The Outsidaz), 7L & Esoteric (Czarface), J-Live and more. The critically acclaimed release was nominated for Best Hip-Hop Album & Artist of the Year at The Boston Music Awards and REKS was featured in the Source, XXL, Vibe, and URB Magazine’s “Next 100”.
His highly anticipated sophomore effort, Rekless was self-released, followed by his legendary album Grey Hairs, which dropped in 2008 and featured momentous production from DJ Premier, Large Professor, and more, plus ten-tracks from Statik, and featured collaborations with Lil Fame of MOP, Consequence, Skyzoo, and others. Grey Hairs lead to REKS being profiled by XXL Magazine in their “Show & Prove” section.
REKS continued his rapid rise in 2011 with this fourth album, the self-titled R.E.K.S (Rhythmatic Eternal King Supreme).
Brick Records is proud to reissue this album for its 15th anniversary, in two colorways, and including the full album track list which has never been available on vinyl until now.
The record lists such notable legends as DJ Premier, Pete Rock, Hi-Tek, Alchemist, Nottz, Sha Money XL, Sean C & LV, Blaze P, Mike Frey, Fizzy Womack and the ever present Statik Selektah contributing production, plus insane features from Styles P, Freeway, Termanology, Lil Fame, and more.
In retrospect, REKS says : “My self-titled album R.E.K.S. (Rhythmatic Eternal King Supreme) came at a period where I was afforded the opportunity to work with some of hip hop’s greatest producers and emcees, which I highly respected in the culture. This album also brought some of my most celebrated and performed material (“25th Hour”, “This or That”, “Mr. Nobody”) and allowed me to work with respected emcees like Styles P, Lil Fame from M.O.P. and Freeway. I am thankful to Brick Records and my brother Statik Selektah, who have always been a major part of my early successes.”
